Latin American Studies Centre
The Latin American Studies Centre carries out interdisciplinary research, teaching and dissemination activities. It does this in the linguistic, literary, cultural, social, historical, political, economic, geographical, and juridical sectors inherent to the Latin American subcontinent.
The Centre’s main purpose is to spread the scientific results of the University of Naples "L’Orientale" and to act as a reference point on a local, national and international level for the studies and problems related to the area in question. To this end, the Centre networks the multidisciplinary realities of internal research to ensure the scientific growth of the scholars involved, the visibility of the University and the possibility of providing a reference to both academic and private users.
In this regard, the Centre aims to:
- promote and implement interdisciplinary research and educational initiatives in the field of Ibero-American and Brazilian studies;
- organise seminars and conferences to encourage scientific collaboration between Italian and foreign academics;
- activate programs and initiatives to facilitate the movement of professors and students, especially those from Latin American;
- become a scientific reference to meet the academic and work needs with regards to Latin America.
The Centre promotes the implementation of cooperation agreements with national and international academic institutions with the aim to organise activities in partnership with non-university bodies, cultural centres and research centres. Finally, the Centre undertakes any other initiative aimed at pursuing its statutory goals.
